Ontario Liberals Announce Elizabeth Roy as Candidate for Whitby—Oshawa

Regional Councillor to represent Party in upcoming by-election

The Ontario Liberal Party is proud to announce Elizabeth Roy has been selected as the Ontario Liberal candidate for the upcoming Whitby—Oshawa by-election. Roy was joined by MPP Steven Del Duca (Vaughan), MPP Granville Anderson (Durham), MP Celina Caesar-Chavannes and members of the community in Whitby for the nomination meeting this evening.

Roy is a long-time local representative, health care professional and volunteer in Whitby—Oshawa. Through her experience as both a regional and local councilor for the Town of Whitby and as a trustee on the Durham District School Board, Roy understands the infrastructure, education and health care needs of communities across the riding.

“I am proud to represent Kathleen Wynne’s Ontario Liberal team, and to bring our positive message to my friends and neighbours in Whitby—Oshawa,” said Roy. “Our communities badly need new and modern infrastructure: better transit for our many GO riders, state-of-the-art classrooms for our children, and quality local health care facilities. We are the only Party with a plan to invest in the things people in Whitby and Oshawa need to thrive today and for years to come.”

Roy also highlighted the Ontario Liberal plan to help ensure a secure retirement for hardworking Ontarians.

“Too many workers across Whitby—Oshawa don’t have a workplace pension plan and aren’t able to save enough for retirement. I look forward to working alongside Premier Wynne at Queen’s Park to ensure that all working Ontarians enjoy a secure retirement.”

Roy concluded: "I look forward to meeting voters across the riding and to hearing about the issues that matter most. I would be honoured to fight for Whitby—Oshawa at Queen's Park and will work tirelessly to build our communities up."
