TORONTO – Deanna Sgro will be nominated as the Ontario Liberal Party candidate for the new riding of Humber River-Black Creek on July 24. This follows today’s announcement that long-time area MPP Mario Sergio will retire next year after forty years in public life.

Sgro is a lawyer, working as General Counsel and Vice-President Corporate Services at a North American-leading customer management firm. Born and raised in Toronto, Sgro attended local schools in the community, and graduated from York University and Osgoode Hall Law School, where she earned both a JD and an LLM. She is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

“I am excited and honoured to follow in my mother’s footsteps and enter public service,” said Deanna, the middle child of the Hon. Judy Sgro, the long-time Member of Parliament for the area. “I share Premier Kathleen Wynne's vision of investing in our schools, health care and transit, and creating a fairer society. It's an honour to join her Toronto team,” she added.
